Star of the Week

Las Brisas Elementary implements a “Star of the Week” program that encourages students to practice their “star qualities” every day. The students will receive star tickets throughout the school week from teachers and staff when they are specifically recognized for being a star! Every Friday a new “Star of the Week” for each grade level and classroom will be announced to celebrate each amazing star that we have on our campus!

Birthdays

Please let me know in advance if you are sending in a special treat to celebrate a birthday. We will usually share this treat around 1:45 in the afternoon. All treats need to be store bought and peanut free. Please do not have your child hand out party invitations in class (unless the whole class is invited).

Snacks

Your child can bring a healthy snack daily to have at afternoon recess.

PTSA

I hope you will consider joining the PTSA. They are wonderful and make our school SO much better! Hopefully, we can get 100% participation in our class!

Have You Filled A Bucket Today?

The foundation of our classroom is based on the ideals from this book, Have You Filled A Bucket?, written by Carol McCloud. I encourage you to give it a read or refer to this video if you are interested in what it means to be a "bucket filler"!

In our classroom, we are a family that is kind to ourselves and kind to others. We will learn to always be respectful, responsible, and accountable. The practices in my classroom work to promote positive behavior and language so that everyone can be a "bucket filler".

About the Teacher

Welcome to 2nd Grade at Las Brisas Elementary! We are going to have a fantastic year full of fun and learning!

My name is Rachel Soylular and I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a BS in Elementary Education. I am passionate about teaching and being a lifelong learner. I have two nieces and two nephews that are my whole world! My oldest niece, London, is 11 years old. My younger niece, Irie, is 5 years old. She will be starting Kindergarten this year, along with my nephew, Ryder, who is also 5 years old! Last but not least, is my nephew Kai, who is 6 years old and will be starting first grade this year!

My favorite time is spent with these four amazing children and I could not be more excited about getting to know your child and what makes them special!
