Hi there! My name is Stevie Mendelsohn and I am BEYOND excited about all of the wonderful things that are happening this year! I cannot wait to meet each and every one of you and begin working with you and your children this year.
I was born and raised in Arizona with little intention of leaving. I have wanted to be a teacher as long as I can remember. Starting a family left me a little late to the game, but here I am for another year at the wonderful Las Brisas. While completing a degree in Elementary Education at Grand Canyon University, I was introduced to Las Brisas when I landed a student teaching position in a 3/4 Gifted classroom. I was then fortunate enough to stay as the 3/4 Gifted Cohort teacher, and am even more honored to continue this journey as the 4th Grade Renaissance teacher this year. Las Brisas has provided a home and a team that I am forever grateful for.
I have endorsements in Structured English Immersion, Early Childhood Education, and Gifted Education. I was considered a gifted student growing up as well as being a parent of gifted students. It was my children's journey that truly fueled my fire and passion for gifted education. Through them, I believe I have an understanding and desire to reach student needs on a greater level. I long to promote a classroom of innovators that are encouraged, supported and given the freedom to think outside the box. Children are our future! The world literally depends on them. I hope to inspire, empower and help your child feel important, valued, and confident enough to take on whatever the world may offer.
When I am not in the classroom teaching, I enjoy spending my time with my family. I am the mother to four wildly energetic children. While they keep their father and I extremely busy, I also enjoy hiking, riding bikes, yoga and, with a new-found sense of rhythm, ZUMBA!
I am so grateful to have been put in this position and cannot begin to describe the excitement I feel entering another wonderful year doing what I love! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to learn and grow with you and your children.
I cannot wait to meet you!
