I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. I have been teaching first grade at Las Brisas since 2002. I received my B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri and my Master's degree from NAU. I finished my PhD in Curriculum and Instruction at NAU in December of 2023.
Before joining the staff here, I taught first grade for two years in the Cartwright School District and taught kindergarten and third grade for 4 years in Bakersfield, California. I love teaching and thoroughly enjoy this grade level. While I do not have any children, per se, I do have an adopted Mini Australian Shepherd mix named Baxter!
I will encourage your child to challenge what they know and to wonder about what they do not. Our aim is for all to become responsible, caring and trustworthy young citizens. I strive to build a family atmosphere within my classroom and it is my goal to have each child leave first grade an independent learner that is excited about learning!
